BASF SE has inaugurated its fully modernized plant for acid chlorides and chloroformates at its Ludwigshafen Verbund site in Germany, an investment valued at a low three-digit million-euro amount. The modernization increases production capacity by approximately 30% and ensures reliable global supply of these building blocks used in pharmaceuticals, crop protection, coatings, and other applications. It also supports sustainability goals by reducing the product carbon footprint by an average of 19%, and since 2025 the Ludwigshafen portfolio of around 25 products has been produced using renewable electricity credits. BASF shares have gained 20.1% over the past year, outperforming the industry's 1.6% rise.
