Binance on August 20 launched Binance Agent OS, a developer platform that connects AI agents to its trading infrastructure and market data. The platform includes an MCP server and supports Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT, and custom-built agents. Users can assign a sub-account to each agent, allowing it to view account information and trade within permissions and funding limits set by the user. Permissions can be changed or revoked at any time, and the platform includes an emergency stop feature that can block all agents at once. Currently available via MCP are spot, futures, and convert trading, market data such as order books, and balance and position queries. Wallet operations and machine-to-machine payments via x402 will be integrated into MCP later through separate APIs. Binance stressed that the platform is not an autonomous trading system and said responsibility for decisions and approvals rests with the user. Crypto exchanges are moving quickly to support AI agents. Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agents on June 11, and Kraken announced an AI investment assistant on July 10 that suggests trades based on goals and risk tolerance, while still requiring user approval for execution. Binance noted that Gartner predicts 33% of enterprise software will include agentic AI by 2028. In Japan, the Financial Services Agency raised customer-facing deployment of agentic AI as a discussion point in its AI discussion paper version 1.1 released in March, and whether such services constitute investment advice and how responsibility is allocated in the event of erroneous orders are likely to be key issues going forward.
