MicroStrategy IncorporatedStrategy sold $216M of Bitcoin, reversing its 'never sell' approach, and posted a $12.54B net loss.

Bitcoin dropped more than 2% on July 6 after Strategy disclosed it sold about $216 million worth of the cryptocurrency, then rebounded 1.8% later that day when President Donald Trump said he has 'become a big crypto guy' in response to a question about including Bitcoin in Trump Accounts. Strategy's sale marks the second time this year the company has sold some of its Bitcoin reserves, a reversal of its former 'never sell' approach, and it posted a $12.54 billion net loss in the first quarter as Bitcoin's price slumped. Bitcoin was sitting around $65,000 as of July 17, down from $125,000 last October, and is still down over 32% for the year as of July 20. Richard Smith, CEO of RiskSmith, told CNBC Select that crypto investors should have a mindset of holding for five to 10 years.
