BlackRock's head of digital assets, Robert Mitchnick, told CNBC Wednesday that the CLARITY Act is "less critical" for Bitcoin than for the rest of the crypto market, arguing that Bitcoin has already achieved a level of regulatory acceptance that most other digital assets have not. He said the legislation matters more for assets touching decentralized finance and other complex categories where the regulatory picture remains unsettled, and that institutional investors are not banking on further legislation as part of their base case, treating any regulatory progress as potential upside. Mitchnick also said Bitcoin's recent rally amid equity weakness reflects its distinct risk and return drivers, with investors concerned about global debt and deficits increasingly drawn to it as a store of value, particularly younger demographics favoring it over gold. He noted that BlackRock's IBIT continues to resonate across institutional investors, financial advisors, and direct investors, and that the firm has extended its crypto lineup to Ethereum with both non-staking and staking products, plus a Bitcoin premium income product. On stablecoins, he expressed excitement about growth beyond crypto trading into cross-border payments and capital markets, especially with the Genius Act implementation approaching. Bitcoin spot ETFs pulled in $232.1 million Wednesday, extending the inflow streak to eight straight trading days and bringing the total over that run to $2.8 billion, with IBIT leading at $200.76 million and cumulative net inflows at $54.6 billion.
