The latest Travel Happiness Index report from Booking.com indicates that having a trip on the calendar has become an emotional anchor that helps people cope with everyday stress. Surveying more than 10,000 travellers across Asia Pacific, it found that 100% of Thai travellers feel positive immediately when thinking about travel, and 86% admit that simply having a planned trip helps improve their mood, while 75% see the anticipation of a travel date as helping them handle responsibilities better. When facing unexpected events, only 3% of Thais choose to cancel a trip, compared with Japan where the figure is as high as 26%. Instead, 97% choose to adjust their plans, such as finding an alternative destination or shifting travel dates, and 88% use digital platforms to compare deals in order to manage their budget. Laura Houldsworth, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Booking.com, said that travel is not just about rest, but about making yourself feel better and reconnecting with people, even in a world full of uncertainty.
