A Citi survey of 100 IT decision makers in the second quarter of 2026 found Microsoft as the top vendor that chief information officers are considering for increased AI spending, ahead of Amazon and Google. The survey showed an improving spending backdrop, with forward IT budget growth expectations rising to 3.3 percent, up from 2.6 percent in the March 2026 survey and 0.8 percentage points above the seven-year historical average. EMEA budget growth climbed to 3.9 percent while US growth rose to 3.0 percent. Data analytics and AI remained the top investment priority and gained further share, followed by cybersecurity, digital transformation, and customer-facing applications, with web security jumping into the top-priority group due to a surge in bot and agentic internet traffic and expanding API surfaces.
