Deutsche Bank announced on the 16th that it will launch a digital asset custody service for institutional investors and corporate clients within the year, subject to completion of applicable regulatory procedures. The new service will target institutional investors and corporate clients in Europe, enabling the safekeeping of selected digital assets and their transfer to third parties, with the bank managing wallets and private keys on behalf of clients. At launch, supported assets will include Bitcoin and Ethereum, along with selected stablecoins and e-money tokens such as USDC, EURC, and EURAU, and the range of supported assets may expand in the future in line with client demand, product approvals, risk management, and regulatory processes. The initial target client base will be corporate bank and investment bank clients, including corporates, asset managers, hedge funds, custodians, brokers, and government-related institutions. The bank also noted that crypto assets carry risks such as price volatility, cyber incidents, and the failure of market participants, and are not covered by deposit protection schemes.
