Stocks of four major drugmakers — Eli Lilly, AbbVie, Johnson & Johnson and Biogen — hit fresh 52-week highs on Friday, driven by a broader rally in the U.S. drug and biotech sector as well as company-specific news. The S&P Healthcare Index has gained roughly 9% in the past month, while the SPDR S&P Biotech ETF is up 16.4% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF has risen 10.6%, against a 3.4% decline in the S&P 500. Eli Lilly reached an intraday high of $1,215.76 after a European Medicines Agency committee recommended approval of its drug Jaypirca for chronic lymphocytic leukemia and the company detailed a Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program offering its obesity medicines Foundayo and Zepbound at $50 per month starting July 1, 2026. AbbVie hit $253.35 following FDA approval of Skyrizi for pediatric plaque psoriasis, adding to momentum from its $10.9 billion proposed acquisition of Apogee Therapeutics. Johnson & Johnson touched an all-time high of $255.11 after a CHMP recommendation to expand the use of its oncology drug Tecvayli in combination with daratumumab for multiple myeloma. Biogen climbed to $218.06, buoyed by its proposed $1 billion acquisition of RayThera and an FDA breakthrough therapy designation for its spinal muscular atrophy candidate salanersen.
