US pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly reported second-quarter results that significantly exceeded market expectations, driven by surging sales of its weight-loss and diabetes injectable drugs Zepbound and Mounjaro. Sales of diabetes treatment Mounjaro jumped 91 percent to 9.94 billion dollars, while obesity drug Zepbound brought in 4.93 billion dollars, together accounting for 64.7 percent of total revenue. Strong demand boosted global sales volumes, prompting the company to raise its full-year 2026 revenue outlook to a range of 85 billion to 87 billion dollars, up from the previous 82 billion to 85 billion dollars. Adjusted earnings per share for the second quarter came in at 8.38 dollars, far above the analyst consensus of 6.01 dollars.
