Krung Thai Bank Public Company LimitedLaunch of 'Whispering Bird Loan' with Krungthai Bank to help small entrepreneurs access credit, potentially increasing loan demand.

Tomorrow (September 10, 2026) at 1:30 p.m., Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, will chair the first meeting of the National Electric Vehicle Policy Committee (EV Board) for fiscal year 2026, at the meeting room on the 20th floor of the 150 Years Building, Ministry of Finance. Mr. Lavaron Sangsnit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, revealed that this meeting will discuss the framework and direction of policies to promote electric vehicles (EVs), separating fully imported (CBU) vehicles from domestically produced EVs, as well as investment and domestic production models, to set guidelines for appropriately managing each group. However, there will be no consideration of raising the excise tax on EVs, despite the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) proposing to adjust the tax structure for CBU EVs from 10% to approximately 35-50%, as tax rates are details under the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance and the Excise Department. As for import quotas, clarity on policy is needed before consideration. The meeting was postponed from September 7 to September 10 due to the House of Representatives' session to consider the draft annual budget expenditure bill for fiscal year 2027 in its second and third readings during September 7-9. Additionally, on the morning of the same day, the Ministry of Finance, together with Krungthai Bank, Government Savings Bank, and the Small Business Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCG), will launch the "Whispering Bird Loan" to help small entrepreneurs access formal credit and reduce reliance on informal debt.
