Alphabet Inc Class CGoogle Cloud partnership with Clearlake expands AI adoption among portfolio companies, boosting cloud revenue.

Alphabet's Google Cloud has announced a new partnership with private-equity firm Clearlake Capital, giving its portfolio companies direct access to Google's full AI stack, including infrastructure, data systems, agentic AI platforms, custom models, and enterprise security. This deal is part of a broader strategy to convert corporate AI interest into recurring cloud revenue, as Google Cloud has become one of Alphabet's fastest-growing profit engines. In the second quarter, Google Cloud revenue surged 82% year over year to $24.8 billion, with operating income more than tripling to $8.8 billion. Clearlake, which has over 50 portfolio companies, has been building an AI ecosystem, having recently partnered with OpenAI and Databricks. The partnership adds to a string of Google Cloud AI deals with companies like Verizon and Ryanair. However, Alphabet's heavy AI investment has pushed free cash flow negative, and the company raised its 2026 capital-expenditure outlook to roughly $195 billion to $205 billion, making the sustainability of Cloud's growth and margins a key focus for investors.
