HBIS Resources Co LtdSevere flooding halted copper production at subsidiary, causing expected loss.

HBIS Resources disclosed its earnings forecast, expecting a net loss attributable to the parent company of 115 million to 145 million yuan in the first half of 2026, compared with a profit of 262 million yuan in the same period last year. The company stated that the core reason for the swing from profit to loss was severe flooding in South Africa, where its subsidiary Palabora Copper is located, which halted copper production and sales, reduced operating revenue, and incurred additional expenses for emergency repairs. In addition, foreign currency assets generated exchange losses due to exchange rate fluctuations, and lower iron ore prices along with higher freight costs led to a year-on-year decline in iron ore profits, also negatively impacting net profit. The impact of the disaster has now largely been restored, production and operations have returned to normal, and the company is actively advancing insurance claims.
