Safe Superintelligence, the AI lab founded by former OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, has announced a long-term partnership with Nvidia that includes an undisclosed investment and access to Nvidia’s Vera Rubin GPU platform, expected to increase the startup’s compute resources by an order of magnitude. A source familiar with the deal told TechCrunch that Nvidia’s investment stretches into multiple billions. The partnership aims to accelerate SSI’s next stage of growth after the company achieved significant research milestones, with Sutskever stating that access to a big Nvidia computer will let them scale up research they believe is worthy. SSI has raised $7 billion to date and is valued at $32 billion post-money, with backers including Andreessen Horowitz, Alphabet, Lightspeed Venture Partners, GV, and Sequoia Capital Partners.
