The creative unit masterlynx, formed by 22-year-old Jiban and 18-year-old Yash from the regional Indian city of Amravati, began serializing the manga Kung Fu Kanful on publishing giant KADOKAWA's portal site in May, marking their debut as manga artists in Japan. The two became captivated by the late Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball as children and taught themselves manga techniques. Last year, they won a silver award in an international contest held by KADOKAWA, earning a monthly serialization. KADOKAWA established an Overseas Manga Editorial Department last year to step up scouting of foreign creators, and it praised their work as having the potential to be loved by people around the world.
