Intel CorporationRaising $20B via stock sale at high price, reducing dilution.

Intel's year-to-date stock rally of 165% allowed the company to issue 80% fewer shares to raise $20 billion for its AI buildout, according to Yahoo Finance Markets & Data Editor Jared Blikre. At the overnight pricing of $95 per share, Intel needed about 211 million shares for the $20 billion offering, compared to roughly 977 million shares if it had raised the same amount last September at the $20.47 per share price paid by the US government. The chipmaker upsized its common stock sale from $15 billion to $20 billion due to strong demand, and the proceeds are expected to fund chip factory construction and AI initiatives. Blikre noted that Intel's use of a surging stock price to raise capital mirrors AMC's strategy during the 2021 GameStop episode, but emphasized Intel's strong balance sheet and strategic focus on AI infrastructure.
