Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, in a message for Government Week on Friday, said the government must seriously prioritize economic issues and the well-being of the people, including inflation, unemployment, and the management of prices and markets. Khamenei said Iran needs to accelerate economic growth, increase investment, and boost production, viewing greater reliance on domestic production as key to solving economic problems. However, if domestic production is insufficient to meet demand, imports should be used appropriately and prudently. Khamenei also called for maintaining national unity and social cohesion, warning against using rhetoric that leads to despair and undermines the morale of the people and the country. This situation comes amid increasing economic pressure from the US. This month, US President Donald Trump announced measures he described as the most severe economic action ever taken against countries that provide assistance to Iran.
