Iridium Communications announced that Mlink Technology has begun live, on-air testing of its MS150-IR IoT-NTN chipset using the Iridium NTN Direct service. The MS150-IR is a specialized version of Mlink's MS150 chipset family developed for Iridium's 3GPP standards-based non-terrestrial network, and the companies expect certification and product availability before the end of 2026. Mlink joins a growing ecosystem of chipset providers supporting Iridium NTN Direct, which leverages Iridium's 66 cross-linked low Earth orbit satellites to deliver global NB-IoT and device-to-device connectivity for IoT applications such as asset tracking, logistics, and industrial monitoring. The successful transition from lab testing to live on-orbit validation demonstrates the technical readiness of the service, according to Iridium Executive Vice President Tim Last. Mlink Co-Founder and Vice President Zhiping An noted that the company has also introduced a comprehensive reference design kit to help customers accelerate product development.
