Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, has announced it will expand its tokenized stock service xStocks beyond US equities. In partnership with investment infrastructure firm GTN, it will first tokenize Hong Kong-listed stocks, with plans to extend to UK, European, and South Korean equities pending regulatory approval. Mark Greenberg, global head of Payward Services, said, "The largest asset class not yet tokenized is the world outside the US itself," signaling an intent to bring geographically unconstrained global capital markets on-chain. Competition in tokenized stocks is intensifying, with Robinhood this month expanding its offering to users outside Europe, and Coinbase also planning to offer stock tokens.
