Lockheed Martin stock surged 9% after the company reported second-quarter earnings that crushed analyst expectations. The defense contractor posted earnings of $7.94 per share on $20.1 billion in sales, well above the consensus forecast of $7.23 per share on $19.4 billion in sales. Profits rebounded sharply, rising 444% year over year, as prior losses on a classified Aeronautics program and two helicopter programs were erased. Free cash flow swung from negative $150 million a year ago to positive $2.9 billion. Lockheed also raised its full-year guidance, now projecting sales of approximately $80.8 billion and earnings per share between $29.95 and $30.65.
