Oil prices rose after an oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile near the Strait of Hormuz, with Brent crude trading at 73.88 dollars a barrel. Shell rose 3.4% on the higher oil price and after nudging up second-quarter integrated gas production guidance, while mining stocks weighed on the FTSE 100, with Anglo American down 4.6% and Fresnillo down 4.5%.
