Merck and Moderna announced positive top-line data from the phase III INTerpath-001 study evaluating their personalized cancer therapy combination in certain patients with high-risk melanoma. The study met its primary endpoint of recurrence-free survival and key secondary endpoint of distant metastasis-free survival, making it the first combination regimen to show statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in both versus Keytruda alone. The safety profile was similar to previously reported studies with no new safety concerns. Shares of Merck rose 12.6% and Moderna jumped 177% to a 52-week high following the announcement. The companies plan to present detailed data at an upcoming medical conference and engage with regulators regarding a potential filing for approval.
