Meta Platforms Inc.Meta shares fell for nine straight days ahead of earnings, with focus on its capex plan and investor concerns about spending.
Meta shares have declined for nine consecutive days, the longest losing streak in the company's history, as investors sell ahead of its second quarter earnings report after the close today. The stock has fallen below all key technical moving averages, according to Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data. Attention is focused on Meta's capital expenditures plan for the rest of the year and 2027, especially after Alphabet spooked investors last week with higher-than-expected spending warnings. Deutsche Bank analyst Benjamin Black noted that capex remains a key debate, and buy-side expectations for 2027 capex have been raised to the low-to-mid $200 billion range, with his own estimate at approximately $210 to $215 billion for 2027 and around $265 billion for 2028. Black also highlighted that a third-party cloud business could add a direct revenue stream against assets currently valued largely through indirect benefits to ads and engagement.
