Microchip Technology announced a new radiation tolerant Space CSAC SA65 atomic clock for satellite systems, aimed at compact and energy efficient timing in orbit. The company also introduced a major upgrade to its PolarFire FPGA Ethernet Sensor Bridge to support AI driven edge sensor connectivity for cameras. The updated sensor bridge targets robotics, medical and industrial uses that rely on NVIDIA based platforms and tighter latency control at the edge. The Space CSAC SA65 offers radiation tolerance of at least 30 kRad, power draw under 120 mW and commercial off the shelf sourcing, positioning it for Low Earth Orbit satellite timing where size, weight, power and cost are tight constraints. The PolarFire Ethernet Sensor Bridge Rev 2.0 features a 60% smaller board, support for up to four cameras and NVIDIA Holoscan integration, directly supporting the edge AI and data center connectivity catalyst that analysts already point to.
