Yunnan Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industrial Co LtdProjected first-half profit increase of 148%-261% and strategic mineral status.
On August 6, the minor metals sector rose 3.12% intraday. Yunnan Germanium hit the daily limit up, while China Tungsten and Hightech Materials and Ningxia Orient Tantalum Industry were among the top gainers. According to National Business Daily, Yunnan Germanium previously announced a projected first-half profit increase of 148% to 261%. As China's leading germanium resource company, it has laid out indium phosphide substrates and is already supplying high-speed optical module chips in bulk. Germanium's inclusion as a national strategic mineral, combined with expanding AI computing demand, has lifted sentiment across the rare metals sector. A Changjiang Securities research note pointed out that the minor metals sector is shifting from a valuation contraction phase to a fundamentals-driven uptrend. Tantalum is benefiting from rising demand for polymer tantalum capacitors driven by high power consumption in AI chips. Nvidia's GB200 has already adopted them on a large scale, and the per-unit tantalum capacitor usage in the GB300 and Rubin platforms is expected to increase further, marking an industry inflection point. Molybdenum, a key metal for oil and gas and military applications, is also seeing long-term growth potential from the trend of replacing tungsten with molybdenum in the semiconductor space, in addition to cyclical restocking logic.
