Amgen IncPhase 3 data showed Repatha reduces cardiovascular events by 29% in high-risk diabetes patients, and MariTide obesity drug advances to Phase 3.

Mizuho analyst Salim Syed raised the price target for Amgen to $303 from $295 while maintaining a Neutral rating, following an update to the firm's valuation model after reviewing Amgen's first quarter results. Separately, Amgen presented Phase 3 VESALIUS-CV subgroup data at the American Diabetes Association 86th Scientific Sessions, showing that Repatha reduced major cardiovascular events by 29% compared with placebo in 6,002 high-risk diabetes patients with elevated LDL-C who had not previously experienced a heart attack or stroke. The treatment also demonstrated a 21% reduction in a broader cardiovascular outcome that included ischemia-related revascularization, with patients achieving a median LDL-C level of 45 milligrams per deciliter versus 106 milligrams per deciliter on placebo. Amgen is also advancing MariTide, an experimental obesity drug in Phase 3 trials, which could become a major competitor in the weight-loss market.
