NVIDIA CorporationSpaceX says it is exclusively using Nvidia chips and will launch Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 AI computers in space in 2027, a concrete product adoption/order signal.
Elon Musk said he is highly confident that SpaceX will launch Nvidia AI computers in space next year, writing in a reply to a post on X that the company will be launching Nvidia VR NLV72 AI computers in space in 2027. Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 is an AI computer platform featuring 72 Rubin GPUs, 36 Vera CPUs, NVIDIA ConnectX-9 SuperNICs, and BlueField-4 DPUs. SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen previously said the company is exclusively using Nvidia chips and expects the relationship with the semiconductor company to help it obtain the necessary allocations. Johnsen said SpaceX is targeting the launch of its first orbital-computing satellites next year, followed by significant deployments during 2028. The company plans to adapt the same satellite bus used for its V3 Starlink satellites, replacing the communications payload with computing equipment and adding more solar-generating capacity.
