National CineMedia IncQ2 earnings miss, dividend pause, and $275M acquisition with debt repayment focus

National CineMedia shares fell sharply in premarket trading after the cinema advertising company reported second quarter earnings below expectations, paused its dividend, and announced a $275 million acquisition of Captivate. Captivate operates a digital out-of-home media network with more than 26,000 screens in commercial office buildings and residential properties across 170 U.S. and Canadian DMAs. The company withheld guidance and said free cash flow would primarily be used for debt repayment following the deal's close. Wedbush Securities analyst Alicia Reese expects the Outperform-rated company to quickly repay debt and resume dividends, citing tailwinds across both business segments. Shares slid 25.3% to $2.83 in premarket trading.
