Nvidia has announced two major deals in the last 24 hours, revealing a two-pronged strategy to expand its AI ecosystem. The first is a $35 billion agreement where Anthropic will rent data server space from Lambda, with Nvidia chips powering the compute, helping bring more AI capacity online and keeping Nvidia's GPUs in the AI factory. The second is a $3.5 billion investment in MediaTek to back custom chips, such as AWS's Trainium or Google's TPUs, allowing these competitor chips to operate within the Nvidia ecosystem while Nvidia supplies networking and other critical hardware. This strategy aims to increase Nvidia's revenue per gigawatt of data center power, with projections rising from $18 billion for Hopper GPUs to $25 billion for Grace Blackwell and $40 billion for Vera Rubin, which adds networking architecture. These figures were disclosed in Nvidia's recent earnings call.
