NVIDIA CorporationNvidia leverages $500B capital pool and $30.2B equity securities to fund AI infrastructure, creating a new moat.

Nvidia is shifting its strategy from being a leader in AI chips to using capital as a key weapon, partnering with Wall Street financial institutions to drive a $500 billion funding pool for GPUs and supporting up to $105 billion in financing for OpenAI's massive data center project in Ohio. Nvidia's quarterly free cash flow has grown 18-fold over three years to $48.5 billion, and the company holds equity securities worth $30.2 billion, up from $12.9 billion a year earlier. Nvidia is also working with Goldman Sachs, Apollo Global Management, Blackstone, and BlackRock to create a capital market for AI infrastructure, with the idea of making GPUs a new asset class that institutional investors can invest in, and Nvidia may guarantee or backstop up to 25% of each loan. This move comes amid intensifying competition from AMD and Google, which are beginning to recognize revenue from TPU sales and data center business growth of over 100%, respectively.
