Optex Systems wins $2.79M laser filter order, backlog tops $26.5M

Keysight Technologies executives said AI data-center buildouts are driving demand that currently exceeds supply, with revenue pushed beyond the company's typical six-month order-to-revenue window approaching $100 million. Speaking at a Truist investor conference, Chief Financial Officer Neil Dougherty said quarterly revenue has climbed from $1.6 billion in the first quarter to guidance of $1.94 billion for the fourth quarter, and that Keysight is adding internal capacity, raising capital expenditures, signing longer-term supplier agreements and qualifying second and third sources to ease constraints. Kailash Narayanan, senior vice president and president of Keysight's Communication Solutions Group, said the biggest contributors to AI-related business are speed transitions and system-level emulation, with traction in 1.6T technology and research already underway on 3.2T, silicon photonics and co-packaged optics. Keysight expects its 6G business to inflect in the first half of 2028, ahead of expected commercialization in late 2029 and 2030, while its U.S. aerospace and defense business has expanded at a strong double-digit rate and Europe is growing faster from a smaller base. Dougherty said the company expects incremental margins at or above its 40% target when growth exceeds 5%, and that three acquisitions completed near the start of the fiscal year are now integrated and expected to provide roughly $50 million in cost synergies next year; Keysight held $2.6 billion in cash at quarter-end and has repurchased more than $500 million of stock year to date.

Motorola Solutions is scaling its recently acquired Silvus Technologies and D-Fend Solutions operations while executing across its mission-critical networks, command center software and video security businesses, Chief Operating Officer Jack Molloy said at a Truist conference. Silvus, acquired in August 2025, is expected to generate about $850 million in 2026 sales based on current capacity, with a new production line added in Culver City, California, and a Salt Lake City facility expected to begin contributing in the first quarter of 2027. Motorola Solutions also recently completed its acquisition of D-Fend Solutions, a cyber-based counter-drone vendor that was the only cyber-mitigation counter-unmanned aircraft system vendor selected in a U.S. Department of Homeland Security counter-drone grant program totaling $1.5 billion. The company reported record second-quarter orders and double-digit order growth in the first half of the year, and has guided for double-digit product growth in the second half, with 2026 expectations of 10% to 11% growth in mission-critical networks, about 11% in video security and about 15% in command center software. Molloy said rising DRAM and flash-memory prices have most affected the video business, prompting three substantial video price increases, while the company has maintained comparable gross margins and delivered 170 basis points of operating-margin expansion this year.

The United States, Denmark and Greenland have reached a landmark agreement that opens the way for the US to have a long-term security role in Greenland. Kobsak Pootrakool, Senior Executive Vice President of Bangkok Bank, or BBL, posted on Facebook under the name Kobsak Pootrakool, stating that Denmark and Greenland have granted the US the rights to use Greenland as the US wants, to serve as a key strategic point for building the Golden Dome and for controlling shipping through the emerging Arctic route. President Trump announced that this agreement gives the US permanent control over security and all other necessary matters in Greenland, at no cost to the US, and that countries hostile to the US will not be able to establish military bases, station troops, or invest in sensitive businesses in Greenland without explicit written approval from the US. Kobsak stated that this agreement is eternal, with no end date, and that the US will immediately begin the process of establishing a large military force in suitable areas of Greenland. He also viewed this as significant progress within the framework of the Donroe Doctrine, under which the US seeks to control key points around its neighborhood in North and South America, following Panama, Venezuela, Colombia and Greenland, with Cuba and Brazil remaining, awaiting the October 4 election.
