PayPal Holdings IncStripe and Advent International have offered $60.50 per share, a 28% premium, for PayPal.

Polymarket traders are increasingly betting that Stripe will acquire at least part of PayPal this year, with the prediction market's odds surging to 74% after Reuters reported a formal acquisition proposal. The market had been trading below 25% for much of July before the sharp jump, reflecting growing confidence that some form of deal could be completed. According to Reuters, Stripe and private equity firm Advent International have offered $60.50 per share for PayPal, valuing the company at more than $53 billion, with the proposal backed by around $50 billion in committed financing from banks and representing roughly a 28% premium to PayPal's previous closing share price. The consortium reportedly envisions jointly owning PayPal with each holding an equal stake, rather than breaking up the company. PayPal has not responded to the proposal, and Stripe and Advent have declined to comment.
