Imperial Metals Corporation announced that the Province of British Columbia has granted key regulatory authorizations for the transition of the Red Chris mine from open pit to block cave operations. The amended Environmental Assessment Certificate and Mines Act authorization, secured through a consent-based framework with the Tahltan Nation, effectively extend the mine life into the mid-2040s. A Definitive Feasibility Study is being completed by operator Newmont Corporation, which holds a 70 percent stake in the joint venture, while Imperial holds 30 percent. The project is expected to generate over 1,800 construction jobs, sustain approximately 1,500 peak-season operating roles, and increase Canada's copper production by roughly 15 percent. A final investment decision by the joint venture partnership is anticipated later this year.
