Rio Tinto reported a 75% increase in free cash flow and raised its interim dividend by 43% to $3.4 billion, driven by a 28% jump in underlying EBITDA to $14.8 billion. The company banked $870 million in productivity benefits by the end of June and is targeting a year-end run rate of $1.8 billion. Copper and aluminum now account for almost 60% of EBITDA, with copper EBITDA up 84% and its free cash flow more than tripling. Capital expenditure is expected to reach up to $11 billion in both 2026 and 2027, while net debt was reduced during the period. Copper equivalent production grew 3%, and Pilbara iron ore output reached its highest first-half level since 2018.
