Robinhood Markets IncCEO urges U.S. approval of tokenized stocks, a regulatory development that could expand Robinhood's offerings.

Robinhood Markets CEO Vlad Tenev is calling on U.S. regulators to approve tokenized stocks, warning that the country risks ceding next-generation financial infrastructure to overseas competitors. In a social media post, Tenev said the global financial system is in the early stages of a tokenization super cycle that could reshape traditional finance. Robinhood already offers tokenized U.S. stocks in more than 120 countries and has tokenized over 190 U.S. stocks, backed 1:1 by underlying shares but without direct ownership. Tenev argues tokenization enables instant blockchain settlement, lower fees, borderless access, around-the-clock trading, and faster asset transfers. HOOD stock has declined 15% over the past 12 months to $91.53 per share.
