Robinhood Markets reported that its cryptocurrency trading revenue fell 38% year-over-year in the second quarter to $100 million U.S., down from $160 million U.S. a year earlier. The company attributed the decline to continued struggles for leading digital assets such as Bitcoin, whose price has nearly halved from an all-time high of $126,000 U.S. last October to around $64,800 U.S. Despite the crypto slump, Robinhood's overall financial results beat Wall Street forecasts, with earnings per share of $0.62 U.S. versus the $0.43 U.S. consensus and record revenue of $1.31 billion U.S., up 32% from a year earlier and above the $1.29 billion U.S. estimate. Management credited new products launched during the quarter, including options trading features and a prediction market tied to the World Cup, for the strong performance. HOOD stock rose 2% following the earnings release but remains down 15% over the past 12 months at $92.02 U.S. per share.
