RTX announced Thursday it won a not-to-exceed $240.75 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to support the F135 engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. The modification covers engineering work to mature the engine, address operational issues, and improve readiness, as well as supporting the F135 engine core upgrade and long-lead hardware for a spare test engine. Work is expected to be completed by March 2028, with about $214.16 million in fiscal 2025 funds from the Air Force, Navy, and F-35 program partners obligated at award. Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity.
