MicroStrategy IncorporatedStrategy's pause in Bitcoin sales and shift to stock issuance eases sell-off concerns, supporting its position.

Bitfinex, a major cryptocurrency analytics firm, said on the 28th that the easing of concerns over Strategy's potential Bitcoin sales, combined with increased inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, is contributing to improved supply-demand dynamics. In a filing dated the 23rd, Strategy reported that it did not purchase or sell any Bitcoin between the 17th and the 23rd, keeping its holdings at 840,447 BTC for the second consecutive week. The company sold 18,261,118 shares of its common stock "MSTR," generating net proceeds of $2.0065 billion. Of that, $300 million was allocated to a U.S. dollar reserve, $136.4 million was used to repurchase its floating-rate preferred stock "STRC," and the remaining approximately $1.5701 billion was directed to a newly established funding facility, "USD Cash." Strategy recorded a net loss of $12.54 billion in the first quarter of 2026, and Chairman Michael Saylor had mentioned the possibility of selling some Bitcoin to secure funds for preferred stock dividends. However, actual sales were limited to a cumulative 6,948 BTC (worth approximately $432.5 million) from the initial 32 BTC sold at the end of May through early August. Bitfinex analyzed that with the rise in MSTR's stock price and the recovery in Bitcoin's price, Strategy has strengthened its stance of prioritizing MSTR sales while preserving its Bitcoin holdings. The accumulation of a U.S. dollar reserve equivalent to about three years of preferred stock dividends has also alleviated concerns about potential sales. Additionally, the spot Bitcoin ETF market has recorded weekly inflows at their highest levels since October 2025, further supporting the improvement in supply-demand dynamics.
