MicroStrategy IncorporatedCompany sold Bitcoin to meet cash obligations, potentially signaling financial strain.

Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, sold another 1,690 BTC worth over $100 million in August, bringing its total sales since May to at least five separate transactions. The company, formerly known as MicroStrategy, holds 840,447 BTC, or roughly 4% of all Bitcoin in circulation, and says the sales are needed to meet cash obligations and support its stock. Strategy maintains it has sufficient dollar reserves and a new capital management plan to handle future obligations, and it still expects to be a net buyer of Bitcoin over time. Investment firm Bernstein called fears of a Bitcoin treasury implosion overblown and reiterated a $150,000 price target for Bitcoin, implying a potential 135% rally by year-end. Bitcoin is down nearly 15% since Strategy began selling in May.
