Tesla IncNHTSA audit of Cybercab certification could delay scaling without exemptions.

Tesla shares fell over 4.6% to $358.88 in premarket trading Friday after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an audit of roughly 1,000 Cybercab vehicles, demanding evidence that Tesla's certification process meets federal safety standards. The audit comes just one day after Cybercab entered limited commercial service in Austin, and the vehicle lacks a steering wheel, brake pedal, accelerator, and conventional mirrors. Texas records show only 45 Cybercabs among Tesla's 420-vehicle registered autonomous fleet, representing 10.7% of that fleet, but the regulatory scrutiny could affect Tesla's ability to scale Cybercab without exemptions or costly delays. At $358.88, Tesla trades 7.53% above its GF Value of $333.76, indicating investors still pay a premium despite the drop.
