Uber Technologies IncNevada approval for robotaxi permits includes Uber, but impact is secondary.
Tesla stock rallied 4% to $357.91 in Friday morning trading on two forward-looking catalysts: a Europe launch event for its all-electric Semi truck and Nevada regulators' approval of Las Vegas robotaxi permits for Tesla, Uber, and Alphabet's Waymo. Uber gained 2% to $79.79 on the same Nevada approval, while Alphabet rose 0.3% to $343.07 and the Global X Autonomous & Electric Vehicles ETF added 1% to $34.9, showing the rally is narrowly concentrated in Tesla rather than the broader autonomy theme. The gains came even as Tesla disclosed its largest-ever recall in China, covering 2.98 million vehicles built between 2018 and 2026 due to emergency door release failures linked to at least 15 deaths, and as Tesla's July retail sales in China fell 32% year over year while the country's battery-EV market grew 6%. Tesla's active Full Self-Driving subscriptions reached 1.48 million in Q2 2026, up 56% year over year, and the company says its Semi factory in Nevada is commissioning with production on track for 2026.
