Texas Pacific Land Corporation shares surged 52.4% in the first half of 2026, driven by higher oil and gas prices amid the war in Iran and major deals to supply power and water for AI data center projects in West Texas. The company owns 882,000 surface acres and 224,000 net royalty acres in the Permian Basin, benefiting from increased drilling and royalties as energy prices rose. In February, details emerged of a partnership with Bolt, an AI data center start-up led by former Alphabet CEO Eric Schmidt, in which Texas Pacific invested $50 million and gained rights to provide power and water for Bolt’s planned 10 gigawatts of computing capacity in Texas. A temporary ceasefire in April and the unexpected death of Horizon Kinetics Holdings’ CEO, Texas Pacific’s largest shareholder, caused brief sell-offs, but the stock rebounded in late June after announcing a deal with Chevron to supply land and brackish water for a power plant supporting a data center in Reeves County. Texas Pacific now trades at 55 times trailing earnings and about 38 times forward estimates, reflecting its strong position in both energy and AI infrastructure.
