The financial markets division of Siam Commercial Bank estimates the baht will move today in a range of 33.70 to 33.95 per dollar. The baht continues to weaken in line with Brent crude oil prices breaching $100 per barrel, after US President Donald Trump said he is considering a major strike on Iran and that Iranian funds under US control will be used to compensate for war damages. In addition, the US is preparing to impose import tariffs of 10 to 12.5 percent on 60 major trading partners, citing improper labor practices. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank held interest rates at 2.25 percent but signaled readiness to raise rates in September.
