The Thai stock index closed at 1,639.34 points, down 13.63 points or 0.82 percent, with heavy trading value of 116.52 billion baht. Institutional investors were net sellers of 5.49 billion baht and foreign investors net sold 85.29 million baht, while domestic investors net bought 4.80 billion baht and securities company proprietary accounts net bought 776.14 million baht. The main pressure came from Brent crude oil prices surging to 95 dollars per barrel, along with profit-taking in the banking sector after financial results announcements. BBL shares fell 6.5 percent after second-quarter 2026 net profit came in below expectations at 9.50 billion baht, down 20 percent from a year earlier and 14 percent from the previous quarter. The petrochemical sector rose prominently, led by PTTGC which gained 8 percent on expectations that second-quarter profit would hit the year's peak.
