CEO calls for pipeline investments to bypass Strait of Hormuz, highlighting a strategic priority that could benefit TotalEnergies if pursued.

TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne said Tuesday that building pipelines to bypass the Strait of Hormuz is an absolute priority, citing the strait as a genuine threat to Middle East oil and gas exports. Speaking at an energy conference in Paris, Pouyanne pointed to alternative export routes through the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Syria, and recalled that the company built an Iraq-Syria pipeline in six years nearly a century ago. He argued that if predecessors accomplished such projects 100 years ago, the industry should be capable of doing so again today.
