Trainline PlcShares fell 5% on CEO change announcement amid ongoing concerns about contactless payment rollout impact.

Trainline has appointed Ian Brown, former UK and Ireland boss of Flutter Entertainment, as its new chief executive. Brown will join the ticketing and rail travel platform on September 7 for a handover and take the top role on September 28, replacing Jody Ford who announced his departure in February after more than six years. Brown previously led the UK and Ireland division of Flutter Entertainment, headed technology firm ANS Group, and ran the trips business unit at Booking.com. Trainline shares fell 5% on the news, extending a decline of nearly a quarter over the past year amid concerns about the impact of the UK government's contactless payment rollout on its consumer division, though the company is also growing across Europe.
