U.S. stock futures are pointing to a higher open on Thursday, with S&P 500 futures up 0.6 percent, following a sharp sell-off that sent the Nasdaq to a three-month closing low. Technology stocks are expected to lead the rebound, as Nasdaq 100 futures surge 1.6 percent, driven by bargain hunting and a 9.2 percent pre-market jump in Microsoft after the company reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings on strength in its Azure business. In contrast, Meta Platforms shares are plunging 9.7 percent in pre-market trading after the Facebook parent issued disappointing revenue growth guidance. The Commerce Department reported that consumer prices edged down in June in line with estimates, with the annual growth rate also slowing as expected. On Wednesday, the Dow plunged 1,153.18 points, or 2.2 percent, to 51,594.14, the Nasdaq tumbled 433.97 points, or 1.7 percent, to 24,442.94, and the S&P 500 slumped 112.63 points, or 1.5 percent, to 7,316.15.
