GE HealthCare Technologies Inc.Rival United Imaging is cautious on AI rollout, potentially slowing its competitive threat.
United Imaging Intelligence, an AI-focused subsidiary of Chinese medical technology giant Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare, is taking a cautious approach to deploying AI tools, resisting pressure for an aggressive rollout. Co-CEO Zhou Xiang, speaking on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, said the company is not that extreme, noting that software engineers and architects warned him about potential side effects because the technology remains insufficiently mature. He added that in healthcare and medicine, the first mover advantage is not as drastic as in other fields. The United Imaging group competes with GE HealthCare, Siemens Healthineers and Philips in medical imaging and scanning equipment.
