UnitedHealth said an external audit found that more than 96% of diagnoses made by its HouseCalls clinicians in 2025 were accurate, while only 3.4% were not supported by patients’ medical records. The company-sponsored analysis was conducted by FTI Consulting and based on 200 visits during which 494 diagnoses were recorded. UnitedHealth’s Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Wyatt Decker said the report indicates the company is highly compliant, though he noted it is not thorough enough to conclusively determine an under- or over-diagnosis rate. The audit follows a government investigation that found leading health insurers received billions of dollars in overpayments from Medicare in 2023 by submitting dubious diagnoses based on Health Risk Assessments, with home visits contributing the largest share. UnitedHealth said it has not revised company policies as a result of the report.
