Bristol Myers Squibb shares rose 8% in premarket trading after a report said it held preliminary merger talks with AstraZeneca, which could create one of the world's largest drugmakers worth nearly $400 billion, while AstraZeneca slid 6%. Brent crude fell 5.7% to $83.77 a barrel after President Trump said talks with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would occur during the day. Dow E-minis were up 329 points, or 0.63%, S&P 500 E-minis added 36.75 points, or 0.49%, and Nasdaq 100 E-minis gained 151 points, or 0.53%. Traders also looked ahead to a busy week of earnings from AI-linked companies and key labor market data, including the official non-farm payrolls report on Friday.
