Vertical Aerospace LtdNearing $100M equity raise to fund development and strengthen balance sheet.

Vertical Aerospace is nearing a $100 million equity financing to fund development of its Valo flying taxi and strengthen its balance sheet ahead of planned certification in 2029. The New York-listed company expects about $35 million from existing institutional investors, with Mudrick Capital Management and Yorkville Advisors providing much of the commitment, while new investors may also participate. The transaction, being handled by Jefferies, could be announced within days and follows Vertical Aerospace's advanced talks with the UK government for a grant worth as much as £10 million to support manufacturing facilities in Britain. The Bristol-based company has received nearly £50 million in government funding and joined a Honeywell Aerospace-led European initiative to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft into European airspace. The prospective raise would provide additional cash for certification and commercialization but highlights continuing dependence on outside financing before meaningful aircraft revenue arrives, with terms and updated funding runway expected at the first-half business update on August 13.
